A 2021 study found that nearly half of women aged 45-60 were unfamiliar with the term "perimenopause." This means millions may not realize they're in this transitional phase—or that their new and puzzling symptoms are hormone-related and treatable.
Hormone Training Is Lacking. A 2019 survey found that 80% of medical residents received no formal education on menopause or perimenopause and "don't feel prepared" to treat these women.
the extent to which your symptoms are severe is generally the extent to which your hormones are out of balance...and support is available!

At first I was skeptical about getting my hormones tested and following a natural rebalancing guide, but I was amazingly surprised to find that within the first week I was waking up much more refreshed, had more steady energy throughout the day and was dreaming at night and not waking up! I couldn't believe that I had waited so long to re-balance. It was the best use of my time and money EVER! I give them all 5 stars hands down for such a thorough and professional job.

This is the best I’ve felt since I had my kids! My periods are normal, I’m having more energy, not having the afternoon drop, my brain fog has been clearing up and my mood has improved! My husband even remarked that he didn’t realize I was about to get my period because I was "far less b*tchy" this time around. I’m having fewer breakouts before my period than before, my libido is up and i'm having much less trouble falling asleep!

After about one month following the rebalancing suggestions, my hot flashes and night sweats went away! My hair also seems to be growing in nicely!

Testing during perimenopause helps to uncover underlying imbalances driving symptoms. When hormone levels are low and/or high, symptoms and hormonal fluctuations become more severe. Our saliva test measures 'ACTIVE' levels of:
Estrogen + Progesterone: imbalances are linked to unpredictable periods, weight gain, bloating, constipation, poor sleep, mood swings, dry skin/hair/nails, headaches, hot flashes/night sweats, vaginal dryness.
DHEA + Testosterone: imbalances can contribute to low libido, reduced strength/stamina, vaginal dryness, acne/oily skin, irritability, sugar cravings and insulin resistance and PCOS.
Cortisol (4 x 1 day): Tracking your stress hormone at 4 pivotal times of day can reveal patterns linked to sleep disturbances, mood swings, energy crashes, cravings, and stubborn belly fat.

“I fully support YHB's efforts to raise awareness, inform, test, and educate women about the importance of hormone balance for women's emotional, mental and physical health. Their work is timely and necessary in the world of women's health”
"I’m honored to endorse the vital work Candace and her daughters are doing in empowering women with the knowledge of hormone health!"
As soon as it's ready, we'll share your ZRT lab report, a health Q&A to fill out, and provide your empowerment guide (with custom recap+action plan) within 5-6 business days.
Saliva testing measures bioavailable (“active”) hormones—the ones most closely impacting your symptoms—while blood tests measure "total," mostly inactive hormone levels (often resulting in "normal" levels even when you know your symptoms are hormonal!).
Saliva testing also reveals estrogen dominance (excess estrogen relative to progesterone), which can cause symptoms like weight gain, irregular periods, PMS, headaches, anxiety, and even increased cancer risk.
Plus, it’s needle-free and the gold standard for assessing cortisol levels throughout the day, helping identify patterns affecting mood, sleep, energy, and appetite.
We also test DHEA and testosterone, key hormones for libido, mental clarity, strength, and stamina (and linked to risks for insulin resistance and PCOS).
You can test while using medications, just mark them on the test requisition form included in your kit. The medications that will impact results (and must be reported) include hormone containing medications such as birth control and/or hormone replacement therapy of any kind. We also suggest taking a 3-5 day break from steroid containing medications - if possible, to avoid skewing cortisol and/or progesterone levels.
RE: birth control and testing, please note that your results will reflect hormone levels under the influence of BC (except for the non-hormonal copper IUD) - but the lab will adjust your result reference ranges to account for use of BC. This can provide helpful insight into how your symptoms may be connected to your B.C., along with suggestions for relief. If you’re considering stopping or switching to non-hormonal contraception, we recommend waiting 6-8 weeks (or until your period returns) before testing for more accurate baseline levels. Note: Custom insights and supplement suggestions are available with our action plan add-on, which can be purchased anytime.
Testing while using hormones is a great way to assess how well your current hormone therapy is working. Just follow the detailed sample collection instructions we provide after purchase, as timing matters based on the type of hormone used (e.g., taking a 12-24 hr. break from topical progesterone before testing).
Note: Saliva testing isn’t recommended for those using sublingual hormones or troches—contact us for alternative options!
Breastfeeding hormones will inevitably suppress your estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone levels, so we recommend waiting to test at least THREE months after stopping nursing, or once normal periods have resumed. That said, you can still test your adrenal hormones cortisol and DHEAs, as well as thyroid and/or vitamin D. contact us for pricing/options.
We provide detailed instructions after purchase for women with either: short, regular, long, irregular or absent periods. If you are able to accurately pinpoint ovulation (ideally via basal body temp), we suggest testing 5-7 days after ovulation (choosing 1 of those days to test). If you can't pinpoint ovulation, we suggest testing around day 19, 20 or 21 of your cycle -OR- 5-7 days before the start of your period if you have 30+ day cycles. Women with periods that cannot be tracked may test any day they are not bleeding or spotting.
We recommend retesting 3-4 months after making lifestyle, diet, or supplement changes—or sooner if starting hormone replacement therapy to ensure proper balance. For those not using HRT, testing twice a year is a good benchmark, but you can also retest based on symptom changes. We offer discounted retesting options to make ongoing monitoring more accessible!
